Matthew De George ’10

Matthew De George served as the sports editor of The Hawk for two and half years up until Dec. 2009, and is currently its online editor. He began as a sportswriter in the fall of 2006, and became the sports editor in the fall of 2007. He covers a wide range of sports on and off Hawk Hill, including “The Hot Corner”, his weekly column. Among the beats he has covered are men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s basketball. Matthew is a native of Newburgh, NY, and a senior biology major and health care ethics minor. Tom Hagan ’11

Tom Hagan was named the assistant sports editor of The Hawk in the spring of 2009, and has risen to the position of sports editor for the 2010 calendar year. He previously wrote for both sports and entertainment. The native of Havertown, Pa., is a Latin major with a minor in secondary education. He is an ardent Phillies fan who started working for The Hawk by covering the Phils’ run to the World Series in 2008. On campus, he covers a variety of sports, primarily baseball and softball in the spring. He can be reached at thehawk@sju.edu.

James Hill ’11

James Hill became editor of the news section for the 2009 calendar year, and currently serves as a staff writer for both sports and news. He started as a sportswriter for The Hawk in the fall of 2007. He was appointed assistant sports editor in the spring of 2008, and then co-sports editor in the fall of 2008. As he has gained more experience with The Hawk, his writing moved from primarily covering athletic events to covering stories that take place off the field. He is an undeclared business major with an English minor who hails from Cincinnati, Oh. He can be reached at thehawk@sju.edu.

Brad Allen ’13

Brad Allen began writing for the sports section as a freshman in the fall of 2009. While he came into St. Joe’s as an English major, within the first couple of months he switched to theology. During his free time, Brad enjoys hanging out with friends and following Philadelphia sports. He is from Manheim, Pa where he was a member of the high school soccer team and is an active member at Chiques Church of the Brethren.
